VIVA 23 - We are joined by Dr Mahmood Razavi (St. Joseph Heart & Vascular Center, Orange, CA, US) to discuss the findings from an early feasibility study of non-invasive therapeutic ultrasound (TUS) to treat chronic limb-threatening ischemia.
12 patients were enrolled in the trial, who had Rutherford class 3, 4 or 5 peripheral arterial disease. Participants received 30-40 TUS treatment sessions over two months.
Findings suggested that the therapy was tolerable and acceptable to patients. A 17% improvement in tissue oxygenation was also observed.
Interview Questions:
- What are the unmet needs of PAD patients in 2023?
- What was the patient population and study design?
- What are the key findings?
- What are your take-home messages?
Recorded remotely from Orange, 2023.
